Art Deco side table/console (1930s) after renovation

Unique side table from the 1930s in the modernist Art Deco style. Spectacular veneer made of flamed burl walnut, arranged in symmetrical patterns, makes it a real work of applied art. The furniture has been completely renovated, finished with hard oil.

What undoubtedly distinguishes this piece of furniture from others is its phenomenal finish. The main countertop and the lower shelf are covered with the highest quality walnut veneer with a flame pattern (obtained from the forks of tree branches). The pre-war master carpenter laid the veneer using an extremely difficult bookmatch technique. Thanks to this, the wood grains are reflected in a mirror manner, creating symmetrical, mesmerizing patterns resembling a Rorschach test. This piece of furniture literally shimmers in the light and attracts attention from every corner of the room.

Modernist geometry of the 1930s
In order not to distract attention from the spectacular wood, the shape of the furniture is extremely simple, refined and elegant. Heavy, rounded forms were abandoned here in favor of light, modernist geometry. Slim, tapered legs give the structure lightness. The proof of the craftsmanship of the design is drawers without a handle - the front remains smooth, and the drawer is opened using a cutter placed discreetly on the bottom.

Ideal proportions for modern interiors
Thanks to its unusual height (86 cm), the furniture is extremely versatile. In the Art Deco era, it probably served as an elegant radio table. Today it will be perfect as:

- A representative console in the hall (it has a very capacious drawer for keys or documents).

- A stylish table for a record player, audio equipment and vinyl records.

- A tall helper in the living room, serving as a base for a large lamp or sculpture.

The table has undergone a thorough revitalization in our workshop, respecting its history.

- Old, damaged paint coatings have been completely removed to the raw wood.

- The structure has been checked and strengthened, thanks to which the furniture is 100% stable.

- We have protected the surface with the highest quality hard oil. The wood has a noble, silky-matt finish, beautiful color depth (3D effect) and water, heat and alcohol resistance. The inside of the drawer is clean and refreshed.
