A highly versatile, solid wood commode from the 1940s featuring a beautiful dual-tone veneer design of European walnut and oak. With its practical dimensions and optimal height (71 cm), it serves perfectly as a stylish media console, TV stand, or hallway cabinet. Fully restored in our workshop and finished with premium hard wax oil.

Built to Last: Solid Craftsmanship
We are proud to present a piece that truly defines the phrase "they don't make them like this anymore." This incredibly sturdy commode, rooted in the late Art Deco and Streamline Moderne styles of the 1940s, features a heavy, solid wood core construction. The silhouette is softened by rounded vertical edges and rests on distinctively carved plinth feet, bringing a classic, grounded atmosphere to any interior.

A Beautiful Contrast: Oak meets Walnut
The cabinetmaker of this piece utilized a sophisticated dual-veneer technique. The main body and the three central drawer fronts are finished in oak, showcasing its strong, textured grain. In elegant contrast, the side cabinet doors and the large top surface are veneered in rich, warm European walnut. This combination gives the piece a distinguished, timeless character.

The Perfect Media Console
Finding vintage furniture with proportions suitable for modern living can be challenging. Thanks to its height of 71 cm, this commode is the perfect viewing height for a flat-screen TV or an excellent base for a vintage turntable setup. It offers phenomenal storage with three smooth-running central drawers and two side cupboards, each fitted with a sturdy wooden shelf.

Uncompromising Restoration
The cabinet has undergone a comprehensive restoration in our specialized workshop (SkarbyPRLu):

• All old, degraded varnishes were meticulously stripped down to the bare wood.

• Both the oak and walnut surfaces were treated with premium hard wax oil.

• This modern, high-end treatment protects the wood against moisture and daily use while providing a stunning, natural satin-matte touch, avoiding the artificial gloss of old lacquers. The interior is flawlessly clean, and the original brass hardware has been preserved and polished.
