FULL DESCRIPTION:
Pre-War Spirit in a Post-War Design
We are proud to present a piece of furniture with perfect proportions and impeccable form. Crafted in the 1950s, this beautiful vitrine/bookcase was made during a period when Polish master cabinetmakers were still deeply influenced by the luxurious Streamline Art Deco movement. This is evident in the gracefully rounded side edges, the elegant recessed plinth, and the sturdy block feet, which give the piece a classic gravity combined with visual lightness.
Nature as the Lead Artist (Flame Veneer)
The absolute highlight of this piece is its lower front section. The two-door cabinet is covered in premium veneer featuring a highly expressive, almost wild grain pattern. The craftsman utilized the book-matching technique, arranging the veneer leaves symmetrically so the grain creates a mesmerizing, hypnotic image reminiscent of dancing flames.
Functionality & Ideal Proportions
This piece is perfectly tailored for modern living spaces. Despite its height (160 cm), it boasts an incredibly slender silhouette: only 106 cm wide and a mere 36 cm deep. It will not overwhelm a living room, study, or hallway.
Upper Section: A display case enclosed by smooth-gliding sliding glass doors (a great space-saving feature). Inside, sturdy wooden shelves, making it perfect for displaying books, glassware, or ceramics.
Lower Section: A spacious, lockable cupboard with a wooden shelf, ideal for storing documents or items you prefer out of sight. The lock is fully functional (key included).
Uncompromising Restoration by EuroVintageRestored (SkarbyPRLu)
The cabinet has undergone a comprehensive revitalization process.
All old, degraded varnishes were meticulously stripped down to the bare wood.
The entire surface was finished with premium hard wax oil.
This modern, high-end treatment provides a natural, satin-matte touch that highlights the 3D depth of the wood grain while protecting the surface against moisture and daily use. The interior is flawlessly clean and refreshed.
